Built originally for a monk visiting from Thailand, the Kuti (Thai for cabin) is now a sweet retreat for the couple who own it and their friends. Its small size, the wood stove, the straw bale walls, the pine ceiling and floor make it a cozy get-away. Bolted to huge rocks that sit on a rubble trench foundation, this is our only cement-free foundation. Cement is carbon intensive and responsible for roughly 7% of all global greenhouse gas emissions.
