Rather than renovate our 1940s, three-season family cottage and jeopardize its original and perfect character, we renovated the garage into a four-season tiny home for the occasional winter weekend. We were tight on space to fit in a garage/workshop, a three-piece bath, a bedroom, a kitchenette, and a great room with a stunning view of the mighty Ottawa River. Tight on space to fit all this in between the existing structure and a vast Norway pine. Cutting it down was out of the question. We managed to line it up just right with 7″ to spare. One view out a window is, however, all trunk. Let’s call it a throwback to all the tree forts we made as kids with dad at the cottage.
