Many century homes could use this addition – A super-insulated mudroom, bathroom, laundry room, and garage with living space above. The mudroom connects the original house to the garage and living space above. At just 14′ wide, we opted for conventional stick frame walls insulated with Roxul to R-30 instead of affording floor space to 16″ wide walls of straw. The living space over the unheated garage is double-framed and insulated with blown-in cellulose to R-40. The exterior finishes are lime plaster and locally sourced live edge siding.
